December 25/2001 (3:59 PM) ~ posted by Ash Well, it's Christmas Day and I've yet to see hide nor hair of Jesus, despite the man-trap baited with nubile virgins I've laid at the bottom of the chimney. Sure, the girls may be a little worse for wear after all the Rohypnol doses and the tire iron blows, but they're still warm, and a guy who hasn't gotten laid for 2000 years shouldn't be all that picky to begin with. Once again, I am sorely disappointed with our tardy lord and saviour, and no amount of standing nude on my front porch, screeching verses from Revelations and calling the mail-woman the "Hoor of Babylon" seems to help. So, essentially, what I'm trying to say is Merry Christmas, and a Happy New PULP.

Oh, this is neat, Google Groups (formerly Deja News) the newsgroup search engine has just added a 20 year archive of usenet posts to its search capabilities! This means you can look up stuff like the time I tried to sell my N64 gear for way too much money and Sean trying to recruit people to play Magic Cards with him. There's also a long list neat historical events worth checking out here.
And now a little something for the ladies... (please don't click this if you believe in santa or dislike images of naked men)
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
December 23/2001 (12:20 PM) ~ posted by JP I feel like posting something today to get rid of that previous post so that's what I'm gonna do!
After several months we've finally surpassed the $30-mark for ad-revenue so we'll be getting a fat cheque soon, thanks for all the support! Keep clicking! Every penny counts, so whenever possible click the banner, thanks.
I'm really pissed off at Agfa right now because the support section of their site isn't working so I can't get the drivers to download photos off my digital camera which means I can't take more! I guess I'm stuck with film for now, pitty that. If anyone knows where I can get drivers for an Agfa CL20 let me know, I'll be forever in your debt.
In the search for content for this post I asked my mom for some of her favourite websites but she kinda screamed "Arghh!! I don't have Tiiiime for this right now!!!" (my folks are hosting a party tonight and everything must be absolutely *perfect*). I was about to ask my sister the same question but she quickly whined "hey! why don't you ask me?!?" so I did. I can't help but say I was kinda disapointed with the results, nothing too exciting but here's her shortlist: Ok, that's all the content-flavoured goodness you get today, maybe someday someone will post something christmassy but I doubt it since I'm far too lazy and Sean's not christian, maybe Ash will surprise us...
December 19/2001 (9:17 PM) ~ posted by JP Ok guys, it's that time of the year again, that time when you give and give until it hurts and then you give some more until you DIE!!! AND THEN WHEN YOU'RE DEAD THEY WON'T LEAVE YOU ALONE, THEY STOMP ON YOUR GRAVE AND MAKE A HAND-PUPPET FROM YOUR SKULL!!! WHEN WILL THE PAIN END??? WHEN WHEN WHEN?!??!?!
All that to say that I've just renewed the Tangmonkey.com domain with the good folks at namesecure.com at considerable cost and although we had a nice load of cash in the bank from shirt sales and banner-clicks it's all gone now. Here's what I want you to do, it's really simple and it only takes a second; go to the forum and click the banner at the bottom of the page, let the new window load and then close it! That's it! Nothing could be simpler. Repeat this procedure once a day or as often as you visit the site.
Thanks a bunch and happy holidays.
December 18/2001 (5:24 PM) ~ posted by JP PULP SERIES 2: ISSUE 12 NOW AVAILIBLE ONLINE
(sorry it took so damn long)
December 12/2001 (1:46 PM) ~ posted by Ash I know it's hard to believe, but the brand new Christmas PULP is finally ready. Unfortunately, it's not quite up on the site yet, but it's being circulated via this internet I keep hearing about. To get your advance copy now, either sign up on the main page or email me at pulp@tangmonkey.com. And when you're done doing that come here and let us know what you think.
December 3/2001 (11:12 PM) ~ posted by JP IT's a SCOOTER!
"...it makes no sense at all for people in cities to use a 4,000-pound piece of metal to haul their 150-pound asses around town." -Dean Kamen, Inventor
Yes, that's right folks that crazy contraption by inventer Dean Kamen codenamed "IT" or "Ginger" that was hyped like mad last year is nothing but an electric scooter. Today on Good Morning America the invention was revealed (click the link for a video of it in action) to the world by the inventor. There's an article over at Wired News that sums things up, also Time.com has some good coverage. Basically it's not nearly as cool as some people would have hoped, but then nothing ever is. The scooter runs on plain old rechargable batteries (some thought it would use a Stirling engine or fuel cells) but the neat thing about it is the controls and balance mechanisms. The scooter is piloted forward simply by leaning forward, to turn you simply shift your center of gravity in your direction of choice, to stop, lean back a little. With the help of loads of handy high-tech gagetry onboard it's virtually impossible to tip the thing and the learning curve is close to nil. Pretty cool huh? You'll be able to buy one in a year or so for only $3000 US! Woo! Cheap!
December 1/2001 (11:27 AM) ~ posted by Sean Today, December 1, is World AIDS Day. As part of Link and Think, here are some links to information on the disease. I strongly encourage any TM Group members to make posts with interesting info on prevention, research, or how AIDS and HIV have affected you. Visitors to the site are encouraged to make comments in the Forum.
Almost 10,000 people will die of AIDS today. Forty million people worldwide are infected with HIV. By the end of 2001, 2.7 million children will suffer from AIDS. Meanwhile, in the midst of this epidemic, pharmaceutical companies continue to resist calls to cut their profits on AIDS/HIV-fighting drugs.
Have you been tested for HIV? You should. Read peoples' stories of this experience here.
It's impossible to internalize the number of people who have passed away from AIDS. The AIDS Memorial Quilt includes panels dedicated to 83,000 of the dead. These dedications are sad, but very beautiful/
None of my friends or family (to my knowledge) are infected with HIV, and I've never known anyone who died from the virus. I feel strangely removed from the epidemic; I'm an incredibly lucky person. I don't take this for granted. Please, learn all you can about HIV and AIDS, practice safe sex, and contribute what you can to help us find a cure.
December 1/2001 (9:07 AM) ~ posted by Zebulon Hold on to your hats, folks.
There's finally been an update of something on the site!! I have, at long last, updated View Askew. And just in time for the video release of "The Grinch!" Or within a couple of weeks, anyway.
Find it here.
And rest assured, there will probably be activity here again just as soon as Sean, JP and Ash finish their six week "Dungeons And Dragons" marathon.
