March 21/2003 (5:47 PM) ~ posted by Ash As we all know, the past few days have been a trying time for humanitarians, pacifists, liberals, and university arts faculties everywhere. The US, flexing its imperialist muscles, has invaded Iraq, and it seems as if everything is going up in smoke. Pot smoke, mainly, if you've passed by any of the recent peace protests, but smoke nonetheless. Bombs are falling, children are dying, and there's nothing fucking good on TV. I mean, seriously, justified or no, does this war really have to pre-empt everything on every channel? Not that it's not important and all, but it's really goddamned boring. It's enough to make anti-war demonstrators of us all, and rightly so. Jeopardy hasn't been on for three days, and I don't know about you, but I find choppy images of a tank rolling through a desert not shooting at anything are a poor replacement for even the most retarded game show, let alone the skill-testing power of the best quiz show on TV. Anyway, I thought I'd just mention that I'm throwing in my vote on the dove side, at least until they find a way to invade countries without dicking with my cable.
