Nathan's Short Tapes
4.29.2003 by Dan Beirne, every Wednesday.

Nathan Lane comes over every Wednesday to the house to watch a movie, or just chat with Dan. Dan found these little chats so interesting, he decided to tape-record them and tell the world all the neat things Nathan had to say about movies and stuff.

These are a collection of short tapes. Ones that didn't last long enough to turn into entire transcriptions. I finally wound up with enough of them, that my dad just told me to put them together.

Wednesday, April 26th, cloudy

Hard Core Logo (1996): Rockumentary by Bruce MacDonald.

("Three Angels" is blaring really loud next door)

Me: You'd never know it was Canadian!

Nathan: Things with Cynthia didn't go so well.

Me: It's just so gritty!

Nathan: ...not even sure if it's mine...

Me: Get out your handkerchiefs!

(Nathan shoots himself with the gun he stole*)

[end tape]

Wednesday, February 2nd, cloudy

Spirited Away (2002): Best Animated Feature of 2002.

Nathan: Wow, that was gorgeous.

Me: My heart's all a-flutter!

Joshua G: That was the fucking stupidest fucking fuck that I've--

Me: Okay, that's too much s--

[end tape]

Wednesday, July 15th, rain on window panes

Modigliani: Italian painter

(the ceiling was really low that day, so our heads are tilted slightly)

Nathan: Should we be talking about painting?

Me: What emotion!

Nathan: Isn't it kind of snobbish?

Cynthia: Shut up, Nathan.

Me: What beauty!

Nathan: I'm outta here.

[end tape]

Wednesday, October 20th, cloudy and windy

Citizen Kane (1941): Fell asleep.

Me: Hm.

Nathan: Yeah.

(the fridge fell over)

[end tape]

Wednesday, August something, clear as day

Girls: trouble-makers and heart-breakers

Nathan: You just think too much.

Me: And you don't?

Nathan: No, I do too, I guess. You just have to...

Me: How's Cynthia?

Nathan: Oh, she's incredible. Let me tell you about this thing she did the other day: We were walking along Pine, right? Or was it Main? No, it was Main. So we're walking along Main, right, and I'm telling her about The Blair Witch Project. She's never seen it, weird, I know. So I'm telling her all about it, and she starts getting really scared. Right there in the street, in the middle of the day. And she does this thing with her lip when she gets scared--

[end tape]

Wednesday May 1st, cloudy

Flaming Lips: we mostly got to listen to the later albums of their stuff.

Me: I've heard people say they're 'lyrically inane'.

Nathan: Shh.. I'm being alive.

[end tape]

as always, you can e-mail Nathan to talk about movies, or just chat about whatever.
