The secret to delicious desert sauce:
Melt equal parts butter and brown sugar in a saucepan, when disolved add one part heavy cream. Add a few drops rum or brandy. Done!
We put this stuff on bread and butter pudding in baking class today and it was just amazing. I've done something similar with fried bananas and it works great, I've never felt the need to add cream and rarely have any in the house but you don't really need it especially if you serve it with vanilla icecream. Want a recipe? ok, but credit goes to my mom.
JP's Mom's Fried Bananas:Heat some butter on the stove, this will be the basis for your sauce to make sure you use enough! Slice some bananas in half lenthwise and fry until sofened in butter. Add about an equal quantity of brown sugar as you used butter to the pan and mix it up a little, flipping the bananas if necessary. Once the sugar is disolved in the butter add a shot of rum and flame it. You're done! Serve with icecream, everyone will love you.
(note: when you flame food pour your boose into a bowl or something first otherwise flame could burn up into the bottle causing the bottle to explode in you face!)
