What's New on the Web
5.26.2002 by Scott, every Thursday.

Hello everybody, and welcome to summer! It has bee gorgeous here, and I’ve had the luck to have both my birthday and some vacation time during these sweet and sunny days. It’s been blue skies and lotsa Vodka, but hey, you only turn 24 once, right?

Well, along with summer fun and time off, comes time to focus on other pass times. I’ve been playing Heroclix, a game featuring Marvel characters from the people at Wizkids Games, the same folks who produce Mageknight . It’s a blast, and my buddies Jaime, Anthony and I have all made my local collectable shop, Quantum Cards, quite happy with our mini hero binges. For the record, I’m holding fast with a 2-2 win-loss record.

In the news around the web this week, Marvel comics head honcho Bill Jemas talks about a bevy of topics including; chief competitors DC Comics announcement that they are raising the prices on several of there books, charges of the Marvel titles tendency to come out late, the Marvel comic convention tour, and a few other things of interest here.

Sony Pictures has let it slip that they’re trying to acquire the rights for a Ghost Rider movie from Dimension Films. Dimension almost had one ready to go with Nick Cage cast as the lead, but it fell apart, and Sony has it’s eyes on Spider-Man money. See more details about it here. Also in movie news, Ang Lee (The director of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) has finished a teaser for next years “Hulk” film. Smash over here to check it out. Some pics have been released of Ben Affleck in the upcoming “Daredevil” movie, and boy is he shiny. You can also take a look at the new Men in Black II trailer over at the Wizard World site.

As for those of you who haven’t read a comic in ages, there are dotcomics all over the place. Marvel has a pretty good selection of it’s hot comics available here, and so does Crossgen comics over here . They also have a paid members section that has over 70 comics online in the library for a pretty affordable price.

As for places to grab the latest and breaking-est news, well, maybe I’ll give my sources away later.

Till next week, I’m off to bask on the sun. Have fun until then, and don't forget to support your local comic shop.
